Open the official Xbox Game Pass cancellation page ↗
Steps (from the official help page)
- Cancel on the web: go to account.microsoft.com/services (Subscriptions) and sign in with the Microsoft account you used to buy Game Pass. Xbox says it's important to use that account.
- Find your Game Pass subscription and select Manage.
- Select Cancel subscription and follow the instructions. If you're eligible for a refund, you'll see an option to cancel immediately with a refund.
- Or cancel on your Xbox console: press the Xbox button to open the guide.
- Go to Profile & system > Settings > Account > Subscriptions.
- Choose Game Pass, select Cancel subscription and follow the steps. If eligible, you may be prompted to start a refund.
Good to know
- Cancel before your next billing date. Xbox says recurring billing is switched on by default, so you automatically pay for a new period when the current one ends.
- Turning off recurring billing stops future charges, and you keep your Game Pass benefits until the expiration date.
- See Turn on recurring billing instead of Manage? Xbox says that means your subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and you won't be charged after that date.
- Refund window 1: Xbox says you can get a refund within 30 days of your initial purchase or before your first recurring billing date (whichever is sooner) by cancelling through the steps above.
- Refund window 2: forgot to turn off recurring billing? Xbox says you're entitled to a refund of your most recent recurring charge if you cancel within 30 days after that payment. This works only once per Microsoft account, per Xbox subscription product.
- Xbox says refund requests made outside these cancellation processes are not eligible, and the policy doesn't apply to prepaid retail subscription codes (those follow the store you bought the code from).
- Paying for someone else's Game Pass? Xbox says the owner of the Microsoft account that has the subscription must sign in to cancel it.
- Billed by a third party (for example Apple or Google Play)? Xbox and Microsoft say to contact that company to cancel or get a refund.
- Charged but see no active Xbox subscription? Xbox says your card may be linked to another Microsoft account (such as someone in your Xbox family group). Sign in to each account and check its subscriptions.
- $1 or other promo offers: Xbox says that after the promo period the subscription automatically continues at the then-current regular price unless you cancel.
- Price change notice? Xbox says it tells you at least 30 days before a new price takes effect, so you can cancel before it applies on your next billing date.
- Library games only work while you're subscribed. Xbox says you have access to Game Pass library games until your subscription is canceled or expires, or a game leaves the library, so finish anything you're playing before your paid time runs out.

If cancelling doesn't work
- Take screenshots of each step and note the date and time you tried.
- If you subscribed through Apple or Google Play, cancel there instead: Apple · Google Play.
- Contact the company's support through the official page above and keep the reply.
- US residents can report the company at reportfraud.ftc.gov or file a complaint with the BBB.
- Ask your card issuer how to stop future recurring charges, or use a pausable virtual card for future sign-ups.
